I've owned Gen 3 Glocks in the past and after the bugs were worked out of the Gen 4's I started switching mine over. The grip just fits my hand better and I prefer the Gen 4 RTF to the smooth frame of the Gen 3. So far I've gone from Gen 3 to Gen 4 on a 19 and a 26. If you really feel there is a difference, dropping a Gen3 trigger in is not expensive and functions fine. I like Gen4s but don't notice the "felt" recoil difference on the 34 like with the sub-compacts. After a few hundred rounds you'll be used to any difference there might actually be. Still rocking those controversial finger grooves, the Gen. 4 makes up for it with a lighter recoil impulse due to the double recoil spring. I figured out the frame was thinner when I was working on Massad Ayoob's crush grip. I'm not the strongest person, but not a wimp either, but I can actually squeeze hard enough to make the grip flex on the Gen 4.The Gen 3 will run about $400-$500, with the Gen 4 coming in at about $100-$200 more in price - depending on where you're purchasing from.
